The most common reason for your homeowners insurance to be canceled or non-renewed is submitting frequent claims. Most companies will drop you or not be able to offer you a quote if you’ve submitted two or more claims within a five-year period.
Other common reasons why you can be denied homeowners insurance or issued a cancellation notice include having a vicious breed of dog (or a dog with a bite history), having an unsecured pool and/or spa, having a trampoline, and having an older roof with lifting or missing shingles.
