Although a Toyota Corolla
lacks four-wheel drive and isn’t exactly a snow beast, it’s still formidable enough to tackle some snowy terrain if you have snow chains. To put chains on a Toyota Corolla, follow these steps:
Since your Toyota Corolla is front-wheel drive, the chains go on the front tires.
Make sure the car is in park. Pull the emergency brake just to make sure.
Untangle your chains by holding them from the plastic coating on the outer edge.
Make sure the hooks on the chains are facing away from the car so they don’t damage the tires.
Lay the chains on the ground and push them behind the tire.
Once you center the chain, grab both ends of the chain and bring them up over the tire.
Connect the cable at the top.
Connect the hooks on the edge of the chain to the central parts of the chain. Typically, both the hook and the link you connect it to are a vibrant color.
Run the bottom portion of the chain through the chain guide and pull to tighten.
Once the chains are secured, drive forward about 20 feet to settle the chains in place.
Tighten the chains as necessary.
Practice makes perfect when you’re putting on snow chains, so you might want to practice in your garage before you head out into the wilderness.
