Is switching to a cheaper car insurance plan worth it, or will I regret it later when I lose my introductory discount?

I recently got lower quotes for my current level of auto coverage. My provider is unwilling to match these quotes. I've been told that companies use lower rates to attract new customers, only to jack up prices later on. Is switching to a cheaper plan now worth it or will I regret it later?

While it’s true that some car insurance companies offer bigger discounts when you first sign up, it’s a good idea to shop for rates every six months to one year regardless. Insurance companies change their guidelines and the way that they rate policies often, and anytime you experience a life change such as a new vehicle, marriage, house, or child, each company is going to have different benefits and discounts to offer.
Sometimes, staying with the wrong company can cost you a lot more money in the long run. Some companies don’t update their records at each renewal, so you might have had a ticket or accident reach its maturity, but it was never removed from the policy. Switching plans and carriers can have greater benefits beyond the initial “welcome” discount.
The good thing about Jerry is that we can send you new quotes with each life change and every renewal to make sure that you always have the best price that we can offer.
