What is a good driving record with points?
I was recently pulled over for speeding while driving my sister to soccer practice. I just found out that because I was speeding, they are going to put 3 points on my license. How many points have to go on my license before I should start worrying about it?

We’re very sorry to hear about your incident! Many states employ a point system for when drivers violate traffic laws. While the best record is clear of points, having three points doesn’t make you a bad driver.
Generally, the
amount of points
you receive correlates to how serious your violation was. Since you were speeding, and likely doing so under 15 mph over the limit, it’s no surprise you only received 3 points. While this shouldn’t be a huge problem, there are some consequences you may face:- Your insurance rates may rise
- Less of a chance you’ll be cleared in a traffic court
- Your license could be suspended
The good news is that your license is that it is very unlikely your license will be suspended after just one offense. The bad news is that if you’re very young, receiving points will affect your insurance even more.
