Does home insurance cover a well on the property?

My family and I rely on a well for most of our fresh water. Will our insurance help us out if the well stops working?

Yes, as long as the cause of the well damage or failure is one of the covered perils on your insurance policy, such as a fire or windstorm. In most cases, a well is considered a separate structure on the property. This means it falls under “Coverage B,” or other structures coverage, on your home insurance policy.
However, you should be aware that home insurance does not cover a well if the damage or failure is a result of neglect or wear and tear.
