Can I cancel a newly purchased car insurance policy and get a refund?

I just got car insurance, but after talking to my parents, I realized it's probably not the policy I want. But I already paid for six months. Would I get a refund if I canceled it? I only bought it nine days ago!

Yes, typically when you cancel your current
car insurance
, you will get a prorated refund, which means that any unused money will be returned to you.
For example, if you paid $600 for six months but you only stayed with the insurer for one month, your refund would be $500.
Make sure you do overlap the coverage you do want with the cancelation of your old policy. You can’t drive without insurance, it’s illegal in almost every state.
