Am I obligated to provide proof of insurance to the buyer of my truck?

I sold my truck a month ago and the buyer wants a copy of my insurance. He says his insurer is asking for it so they know when the truck was covered. But I've already canceled my insurance. Is this something I'm obligated to provide?

Congratulations on the sale! No, you are not obligated to give the buyer a copy of your insurance. Once the truck is in the buyer’s name, that person becomes legally responsible for having insurance and they would have to inform their carrier about their insurance status.
