Ranger is being updated with an all-new design, according to a recent teaser video released by Ford Australia. The next-generation vehicle is “hiding in plain sight,” according to the video.

The teaser is referring to the car’s new exterior. The Ford

will be discarding its older camouflage design for a more vibrant and revealing camo-inspired look.

The 2019 Ford Ranger released in America was identical to the Ranger that had been sold in foreign markets since 2011, so it's due for an upgrade. The 2023 version is expected to be a genuine new-generation vehicle for European and American markets alike.

What does the 2023 Ford Ranger look like?

From the teaser, it looks like the 2023 Ford Ranger is getting a revamp, with new LED taillights and alloy wheels. These aren’t the only tweaks to the vehicle: the next-generation Ford Ranger will have wider fenders than its predecessor, with stepped corners on its rear bumper.

According to

Muscle Cars and Trucks

(MC&T), the new Ford Ranger is expected to look like the smaller Ford Maverick in terms of its design.

Gear Patrol

reports that the new Ranger “shows an extension of the current look with a bit more of a squared-off, F-150-like silhouette.” The site adds that the vehicle’s look has been modernized, with sleeker lighting and fascia details.

The Ranger Raptor, however, which also has a rumored 2023 release, is set to share a platform with the Bronco—meaning that it may also share the Bronco’s 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 engine. According to

, the Ranger Raptor may get an even higher-powered engine, the 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6.

The Ranger may also come with a hybrid version, as per Ford’s move toward

electric vehicle production

. This seems likely, given that the automaker has committed to going completely electric, including both all-electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids, by 2026.

Not only that, but many of Ford’s recent releases have included hybrid options, such as the Ford Maverick and the F-150.

According to MC&T, the Ford Ranger is expected to boast a life cycle of eight years.

When can we expect the 2023 Ford Ranger to be released?

The vehicle will likely launch in U.S. and European markets in late 2022, according to Ford Authority. That means that its debut will likely happen before the end of 2021, or even early 2022.

Not all sources agree on when the next-generation Ford Ranger will launch, however.
