If my friend gets into an accident with my car, whose insurance will cover the damages?

When a car is borrowed and the driver gets into an accident, whose insurance kicks in to cover damages? I'm kind of regretting loaning my car to my friend now.

Unfortunately, since you let your friend borrow your vehicle and he got into an accident, your insurance policy will cover the damages.
Auto insurance typically follows the vehicle, not the driver, so the policy covering the vehicle will be the one to cover the expenses from an accident.
Your insurance
premium
is likely to go up, but if the damage is minor then your policy should be enough to cover it. If your friend frequently has to borrow or rent a car, he should consider getting
non-owner
coverage to prevent something like this from happening again.
This may be a good time for you to shop for a new policy, as well. The free
