So, what is a bolt pattern, and why is it important? It’s a way of describing the pattern of the bolts (or lugs) on your vehicle and how they line up. Having this info is important because if you guess your pattern wrong, your new wheels simply won’t fit your truck.

The bolt pattern for the 2017 Silverado 2500 is 8x6.5 or 8 on 6.5. Here’s what the pattern means:

The number of bolts multiplied by the diameter of the circle they form on the wheel.

So, your truck’s wheels have eight lugs each, set in a circle 6.5 inches in diameter.

How to measure your Chevy 2500’s bolt pattern

If you want to check out your 2500’s bolt pattern for yourself, that’s a simple and quick job. All you need to do is grab a measuring tape (or even a ruler will do). Then, measure from the center of the lug hole of one of the bolts to the center of the opposite bolt.

This gives you your diameter. After that, simply count the lugs and you’ll have your bolt pattern.
