!2014 Ford Escape 2.0 oil capacity
The 2014 Ford Escape came with two engine options. The first was a 1.6-liter engine with an oil capacity of 4.3 quarts; the second was a 2.0-liter engine. Let’s focus on the 2.0-liter engine.
When we say that the Escape has a 2.0-liter engine, we’re not referring to its oil capacity. 2.0 liters is the engine’s displacement. Displacement measures how much air the engine can move and mix with fuel—the greater the displacement, the more powerful the engine.
To find your Escape’s oil capacity, you’ll need to open your owner’s manual. We’ll save you some time and tell you that the Escape’s 2.0-liter engine has an oil capacity of 5.7 quarts.

What kind of oil does a 2014 Ford Escape 2.0 need?
You can’t just dump any old oil into your Ford
and call it a day—car oils vary drastically in makeup and performance. You must check your car’s owner’s manual and verify the correct oil for your vehicle. In the Escape’s case, the recommended oil is Motorcraft® SAE 5W-30 Synthetic Blend Motor Oil. Now, that’s a long and intimidating name. Basically, the different letters and numbers tell you that the oil will flow freely and lubricate your engine even under the harshest conditions, from the cold of the tundra to the heat of the desert. It’s also a synthetic oil, meaning it was manufactured with artificial/hydro-processed base oils and performance additives. In effect, it reduces friction and improves gas mileage.
How often to change the oil on a 2014 Ford Escape 2.0
Now that you know how much oil you need, you can finally change your oil
. You should change your Escape’s oil every 3,000 to 5,000 miles. If you drive a lot, keep things simple by changing your oil every six months. You may also need to change your oil if you notice unusual smells or sounds coming from your engine, or a decline in your engine’s performance.
Make sure you check your oil level regularly. Every two weeks is a good routine.
How to change your oil and oil filter
First, round up the following tools and materials:
two jack stands or automotive ramps
Torx T30 star bit screwdriver
7mm socket with a 1/4” ratcheting wrench
15mm socket with a 3/8” ratcheting wrench
Warm up the engine by running your Escape in neutral for a few minutes. Make sure your Escape is parked on a level surface, then turn off the engine. Engage the parking brake.
Open the hood and remove the oil cap. Using your car jack, raise the front of your Escape and support it with at least two jack stands.
Slide under your Escape, then position the oil catch container beneath the oil drain plug and remove the oil drain plug. Oil will begin streaming into your pan. The oil will likely begin to flow out of your engine in a fast stream, then slow to a steady drip. It may take up to five minutes to fully drain the oil from your Escape.
When the oil has completely drained, reinstall the drain plug. Move the catch container under the oil filter, then remove and replace the oil filter.
Carefully lower your Escape from the jack stands. Using a funnel, fill your engine with replacement oil, then reinstall the oil cap. Run your engine and look for leaks, and close and secure your hood when done.
After changing your oil, it’s a good idea to turn on your car and let your engine run for about 30 seconds before you check the oil level. This will give you a more accurate measurement, and you’ll be able to top it off if necessary.
