If you need to reset your oil maintenance light on your 2013 Acura MDX, use the Info button to navigate to the Oil Life screen. Press and hold the SEL/RESET button, and you’re done!
Your Acura MDX comes with a heads-up display that lets you know when it’s time to change the oil in your car. While this is a helpful feature, it won’t reset by itself once you’ve completed the service. You’ll have to go into the settings yourself so you don’t keep getting messages about depleted oil life.

The 2013 Acura MDX uses Acura’s Maintenance Minder™ program, which sends you indications when certain services, like oil changes, need to be performed. Once they’re done, you’ll have to turn off the indication. While the process of resetting the oil maintenance light may seem complicated if you don’t know what you’re doing, it’s pretty easy once you have the steps laid out in front of you.
- Turn your key in the ignition until the heads-up display is lit up, but do not start the car. You should hear a couple of clicks as you turn the key.
- Once the display is on, use the Info button on your steering wheel to navigate the menu. This will look like the letter “i” in a small circle, and there will be two arrows, one pointing up and the other pointing down.
- You’ll see a screen that displays “Oil Life.” This will probably be a pretty low percentage since you’ll have recently needed an oil change. Press and hold the SEL/RESET button—which should be right above the Info button on your steering wheel.
- This will bring up a menu with two options: “Reset” or “Cancel.” Use the Info button to select “Reset.”
- Hit the SEL/RESET button. You may need to press it a couple of times or hold it down if it doesn’t immediately register.
- That’s it! Your “Oil Life” percentage should now read 100%.
The maintenance light won’t come on again until you’ve reached the time for your next oil change.
How often does a 2013 Acura MDX need an oil change?
You should change your oil when the “Service Due Now” reminder comes up on your heads-up display, meaning your oil life is at 1% to 5%. If you wait much longer, the message will change to “Service Past Due,” and your oil life could drop to 0%. It’s best to get this done as soon as you see the reminder so that you don’t face any of the problems that can crop up when you
don’t get an oil change
. If your Maintenance Minder doesn’t show the “Service Due Now” reminder within a 12-month period, Acura recommends getting your oil changed regardless. You can do this yourself following the guide in your
