How to change your oil

You now know what type of oil you need and how much to buy, all that’s left is to gather your tools and get started. You’ll need a socket wrench, a drain pan, a filter wrench, a new oil filter, and the appropriate amount and type of oil.

Start by running your engine for a few minutes to get it up to normal operating temperature, then turn off the engine, pop the hood, and follow these steps:

Remove the oil fill cap

Under the car, position the drain pan and remove the oil drain bolt and washer

Remove the old oil filter

Let the oil drain completely
