How much is a battery for a Toyota Prius Hybrid?

The battery in my Toyota Prius hasn’t been charging recently. After looking at the warranty, I noticed that I’m already 20,000 miles past it. My mechanic told me I’ll need to buy a new battery out of pocket as a result. How much does a Toyota Prius battery cost?

Sorry to hear that your
Toyota Prius
battery is slowly dying, but even the highest-quality batteries die eventually. A battery for a Toyota Prius Hybrid will cost between $2,000 and $4,500, including labor.
However, the cost is dependent on which generation of the Prius you have, as well as the model (Prius, Prius Prime, Prius V, or Prius C). And keep in mind that those prices are for dealerships only. Markups at dealerships make battery replacement far more expensive.
Alternatively, you could buy a used or refurbished battery for about a third of the price. Make sure to do your homework and only buy used parts from top-rated or reputable sellers, though.
