background
The Lincoln Corsair is the only compact SUV in Lincoln's current lineup. This small SUV offers all the cabin comforts and premium tech you’d expect from a luxury brand, making it a practical yet posh addition to any family.
Small SUVs are having a moment. Car buyers who want a safe, fuel-efficient, space-saving vehicle are opting for the convenience and versatility of compact and subcompact SUVs over sedans. Lincoln has four sport utility vehicles on its lineup for the 2022 model year, but only one model falls into the small SUV category—the Lincoln Corsair.

2022 Lincoln compact and subcompact SUVs

Lincoln only has one compact SUV in its 2022 lineup: the 2022 Lincoln Corsair. The luxury automaker does not currently offer any subcompact models.

2022 Lincoln Corsair ($37,775 MSRP)

The
Lincoln Corsair
is best known for its stylish appearance and first-class cabin, but its budget-friendly starting price can also be counted among this compact SUV’s most attractive features. Even the fully-loaded Grand Touring trim is priced under $55,000—making the Corsair one of the most affordable entry-level luxury vehicles on the market.
While a cheap sticker price is certainly appealing, there’s more to this pint-sized SUV than its cost. It was named a Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and gets five stars for overall safety from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). It also gets above-average gas mileage—up to 25 mpg for gas-powered models, and 78 MPGe for the eco-friendly hybrid.
Expert auto critics are generally pleased with the Lincoln Corsair, although it’s far from the highest-rated compact luxury SUV out there—that honor goes to the
BMW X3
. Car and Driver gave the Corsair a somewhat unenthusiastic 7/10 and Edmunds gives it a 7.6/10. U.S. News seems more impressed with an 8.2/10 rating, as does J.D. Power, who gave it an overall score of 83/100. The Lincoln Corsair came in at #4 in J.D. Power’s 2022 list of best compact premium SUVs.
Here are a few of the Lincoln Corsair’s best features:
  • Two powertrain options—a 250-hp turbo-four or a 266-hp plug-in hybrid
  • Optional all-wheel drive
  • Power-adjustable and heated front seats
  • Power liftgate
  • Remote start
  • Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and smartphone compatibility
  • 28 cubic feet of minimum cargo space and up to 57.6 cubes with the rear seats folded
  • Can be optioned with the Lincoln Co-Pilot 1.5 Plus suite of driver-assistance safety tech
And a few of its weaknesses:
  • Lacks some luxury upgrade options like heated rear seats and a premium audio system.
  • The eight-inch infotainment screen is small compared to some rivals.
  • Sloped roof reduces rear headroom.

Other small Lincoln models

With a history of manufacturing huge vehicles like the

However, if you don’t need a small SUV and can settle for a small-ish one, then you might be interested in the
Lincoln Nautilus
. This two-row, midsize sport utility vehicle offers a bigger infotainment screen, more standard tech, and a better engine than the Corsair. However, it’s poorly received by critics, earning a meager 5.5/10 from Car and Driver. The 2022 Lincoln Nautilus starts at $45,285.
Lincoln’s other vehicles in the 2022 lineup include the three-row
Aviator
and the boat-like Navigator.
