So much bulk demands a heavyweight engine, which is why it's equipped with a 400-hp 5.6L V8. Shift the seven-speed automatic transmission, give it 5.9 seconds to reach 60 mph, and the QX80 hits its stride with grace and confidence.
The fantasy of cruising the streets in a rolling tank must give way to the realities of gas consumption. The QX80 is a thirsty beast. Fuel economy reaches a dismal 14/20/16 mpg (city/highway/combined).
