The main difference between the 2022 and 2023 Honda Ridgeline is time and price. Seriously—the two model years are practically identical. Of course, thanks to the constant onward march of inflation, you’ll pay $660 more for a new 2023 model than you would have for a new 2022 Ridgeline.

As we’ve already mentioned, the price of the 2022 and 2023 Honda Ridgeline models is one of the primary differences. In terms of MSRP, each of the four trims increases in price by $660 compared to the previous year.

Fuel economy
What if we told you that the EPA fuel economy rating of the 2022 Honda Ridgeline was exactly the same as the 2023 Ridgeline’s rating? Would you believe us?
Well, it’s true! The two models are essentially identical, and this includes their fuel economy. The single available powertrain for the second-generation Honda Ridgeline gets 18 mpg in the city, 24 mpg on the highway, and 21 mpg combined.
Safety ratings
Both the 2022 and 2023 Honda Ridgeline received identical five-star overall safety ratings from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). They get mostly Good ratings for most Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) safety categories, losing marks on passenger-side small overlap front crashworthiness, headlights, and LATCH ease of use.
Headlights are the lowest point of the Ridgeline’s safety evaluation, particularly its high beams, which were deemed to provide inadequate visibility. When it comes to LATCH child seat attachment hardware, points were lost because the anchors are hard to find or buried too deep into the seats.
The Honda Ridgeline doesn’t get any IIHS awards but gets full marks for its standard vehicle-to-vehicle front crash prevention system. Pickup trucks are often where we see automakers still not offering these driver assistance systems as standard equipment.
Styling and interior changes
If you’re still looking for any mark of a notable difference between the 2022 and 2023 Honda Ridgeline model years, you won’t find it in their styling or interior either. The 2023 Honda Ridgeline's interior is unchanged from last year’s model. (When we say no major changes, what that actually means, in this case, is no changes at all.)

The Black Edition Ridgeline also comes with all of the premium features from the third RTL-E trim.
2022 Honda Ridgeline vs. 2023 Honda Ridgeline: which should you buy?
If you can find a 2022 Honda Ridgeline model in the trim that you’re looking for, you’ll be getting essentially the exact same truck as a 2023 version, and you’ll likely pay less money for it! The only reason you should buy a 2023 Ridgeline is if there aren’t any 2022 models available in the trim that you want.
For example, if you don’t want to spend the extra money on a higher trim, you’ll likely save money going with a 2023 Honda Ridgeline Sport rather than a 2022
