What documents can be used as proof of residency in Alaska?

If you’re trying to get your Alaska driver’s license or a state-approved REAL ID card, you’ll have to provide four different kinds of documents to establish your full candidacy:

Identity & Lawful Status (Primary Documents): Establishes identity and residential status (e.g. US passport, certified copy of US birth certificate, Certificate of US Citizenship OR Certificate of Naturalization, I-551 Resident Alien/Permanent Resident Card)

Social Security Number: Your complete SSN written on the application or verification of your ineligibility from the SSA dated within the last 90 days.

Residential Address: Proof of where you live (e.g. rental or lease agreement, employment documents, government-issued tax documents, etc.)

Name change: Ensures that the names on your various documents match. If not, must provide proof of name change (e.g. adoption documents, court certificate, marriage certificate, etc.)

You’ll have to provide one document from each group to get your driver’s license or REAL ID card.

To establish your residential address, the following documents can be used:

Utility bill

Alaska voter registration card

Alaska title and/or registration (issued at least 30 days prior to application)

A passport or passport card issued by the United States or a US Territory
