background
A big difference between the inaugural Mazda CX-30 and the 2022 version is that all of the trims come standard with all-wheel drive (AWD). That means there won’t be an upcharge for something that many people expect from their SUV. With that standard AWD, there are eight different trim levels (with two different engines) for you to choose from.
The Mazda CX-30 quickly became one of the most popular subcompact SUVs on the road upon its release in 2021. Fitting nicely between the CX-3 and the CX-5 in Mazda’s lineup, the CX-30 competes with the likes of the Hyundai Kona, the Nissan Kicks, and the Chevy Trax.

2022 Mazda CX-30 configurations

If you’re shopping for a 2022 Mazda CX-30, the most important factors to consider will likely be the price and the engine.
In a new move, Mazda decided that the AWD drivetrain would come standard on all trim levels of the CX-30 for the 2022 model year, meaning that potential buyers no longer need to pay more for the i-Activ AWD that creates superior grip and stability for drivers.
However, Mazda does offer two different engine options for the 2022 CX-30. The first is a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine that produces 186 horsepower. The other engine is also a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine, but it’s a turbo edition that produces 227 horsepower.
Here’s an overview of the trim level and engine configurations available for the 2022 Mazda CX-30:

Mazda CX-30 2.5 S

Starting price: $22,200
The CX-30 comes with a lot of standard features! First, we have:
  • 16-inch alloy wheels
  • LED exterior lights
  • Remote keyless entry
  • Push-button start
  • 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system
  • Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • Wi-Fi hotspot capability
Besides these comfort features, the base package also offers a lot of safety features. Here are the top five:
  • Forward collision warning
  • Automatic emergency braking
  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Lane departure warning
  • Lane-keeping assist

Mazda CX-30 2.5 S Select

Starting price: $24,600
Rather than the 16-inch alloy wheels, this trim includes 18-inch alloy wheels, outboard mirrors with integrated turn signals, and aluminum roof rails. You’ll also get faux-leather seats instead of cloth. And your steering wheel will be leather-wrapped.
You’ll also get Bluetooth connectivity, which surprisingly isn’t offered on the base model. In addition, you get a couple of other bonus safety features: blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.

Mazda CX-30 2.5 S Preferred

Starting price: $27,650
Those faux-leather seats are now heated front seats. You’ll also have an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat that comes with memory. This is especially useful if you have two people that drive the SUV.
On top of that, the Preferred trim level gets you a power moonroof. This trim doesn’t come with any additional safety features.

Mazda CX-30 2.5 S Carbon Edition

Starting price: $28,290
This is essentially just an aesthetic upgrade. The difference here is the Polymetal Gray exterior paint and the red leather interior you can’t get on the other trims. The final addition is the 18-inch black alloy wheels.

Mazda CX-30 2.5 S Premium

Starting price: $30,500
The highest trim level with the 186-horsepower engine has all the bells and whistles. You’ll get leather seats, navigation, adaptive front lights, and a power rear liftgate. Also included: active driving display, road-sign recognition, a 12-speaker Bose audio system, and the capability for satellite radio.

Mazda CX-30 2.5 Turbo

Starting price: $30,200
This is the first trim level with the turbocharged engine, hence the Turbo in all of the following trim names. Even though this is the most basic option, you’ll see that the stronger engine really drives up the price of the SUV and predictably brings the fuel efficiency down.
Even though it’s the most basic of the Turbo editions, it’s most comparable to the 2.5 S Preferred trim. It comes with everything in that trim with two additional features: heated outboard mirrors and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.

Mazda CX-30 2.5 Turbo Premium

Starting price: $32,800
There’s only one additional feature on this trim from the one below. The 2.5 Turbo Premium adds a windshield wiper de-icer. If you live in a cold area, it might be worth the price bump.

Mazda CX-30 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus

Starting price: $34,400
Finally, the 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus has the most bells and whistles with everything from the previous trims and then some. It comes with traffic-jam assist and a Homelink transceiver.
On top of that, you’ll also get a surround-view camera, front-rear park assist, rear-braking assist, and rear cross-traffic alert system. Since you’ll have the auto-dimming rearview mirror, Mazda also decided to add an auto-dimming driver’s side outboard mirror.
