background
A few years ago,
Toyota
discontinued its Scion brand, a name that had become popular among younger drivers. Scion isn't the first
Toyota brand to be forgotten
, but there are Scion models that deserve appreciation. One of these is the 2007 Scion tC.
The 2007 Scion tC stood out when it first released for its unique style that catered to a younger demographic, a major shift from most cars. According to
Kelley Blue Book
, it was also built with tuners in mind, which helped give the car a positive reputation.

The 2007 Scion tC is a fun sports coupe meant for tuning

For its base specs, the 2007 Scion tC is powered by a 2.4-liter, 161-horsepower engine. It came as either a five-speed manual or automatic, and it was known for its surprisingly good fuel efficiency.
It might not have been as fast as some competitors, but it made up for it by handling well and being fun to drive. One aspect of the 2007 Scion tC that really made it noteworthy, though, was how it invited tuning.
Toyota is known for its racing vehicles, and consumer cars like the
Camry TRD
showcase performance enhancements. What made the Scion tC different was that it encouraged drivers to find performance features that best fit them with the SPEC Package.
This was a trim option that was built to be modified. 2007 Scion tC models with the SPEC Package initially came in at a lower price, and they were barer than other models. A driver could then pick options to turn the car into what they wanted it to be.

How the Scion tC stood out to young drivers

In addition to appealing to tuners, the Scion tC was designed with younger drivers in mind.
Toyota
stated that the tC line of vehicles had the youngest buyer age of all vehicles on the market during its production run.
Part of this appeal came from a style that appealed to a younger demographic. The sportier body design combined with features such as optional LED interior lights to give more of a younger style. Other features, like iPod compatibility, also set it apart back in 2007.
Pricing was another aspect of the 2007 Scion tC that made it appealing to its target age group. A base 2007 Scion tC had an MSRP of just under $17,000, and the SPEC Package was even less with no added features.
This meant that the Scion tC was a sports coupe that was not unrealistically priced.

What does the 2007 Scion tC cost today?

Kelley Blue Book does not give a specific price that 2007 Scion tC models typically sell for right now. They note that the resale value of the car was quite good, but now that it is about 15 years old, it is likely less than its initial MSRP.
However, finding a 2007 Scion tC could be difficult. The Scion brand was discontinued due to poor sales, and it may be a challenge to specifically find a 2007 model today.
If you can find one, though, it would likely be a great used car choice. Kelley Blue Book notes that the used Scion tC is still fun to drive, and its interior is quite comfortable.
