Even as the chip shortage continues to cause manufacturing hiccups, there are plenty of
new cars
to anticipate. It's especially exciting to see those new models
on the big screen
before they're available to the public. Even if we can't buy them, we also appreciate looking at concept vehicles and even fictional cars.
One of the highest points in any Batman flick is the reveal of the Batmobile. While this car has received many redesigns throughout the years, it always fits Batman's character. Here's what we know so far about the newest Batmobile.

Who designed the 2022 Batmobile?

Ash Thorp took over the planning of the new Batmobile, according to
Top Speed
. Thorp is a graphic designer with projects under his belt, including The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and Assassin's Creed. He was also responsible for helping develop the Hoonifox, a modern
fox-body Ford Mustang.
From the teaser trailer, we can definitely see that the 2022 Batmobile could have drawn some inspiration from the Mustang. The front end and grille design look similar to the early Chevy Camaro or Dodge Charger.
It also has the same rear quarter window design that was prevalent in late-60s era Chargers. However, the sleek back end and flowing body lines seem reminiscent of the DeTomaso Mangusta.
It's clear that the Batmobile will get a lot of action after watching the trailer. During an intense chase with the Riddler, it's able to propel itself through flames seemingly without any damage. It then sends the Riddler's vehicle flying with the massive battering ram attached to its bumper.

How much power does a Batmobile have?

We'll probably get concrete specs for the 2022 Batmobile after the move has been released. However, we can briefly see from the trailer and previous teaser photos that it has an exposed rear-mounted engine. Given how fast it drives, it's likely to be either a V-10 or a V-12.
Carscoops
says that the toys released ahead of the movie actually give us more clues about the new Batmobile's features. The jet engine propulsion system is faithfully portrayed on the miniature toy, as well as a pair of turbochargers. Upon closer inspection, you can also see that the engine has the same shape as the Bat Symbol.
The interior looks very driver-focused, with a lot of gauges and a massive gear lever. A roll cage is also present, which anyone would appreciate during those high-speed chases. We can see some lights installed under the hood vent, and a section of the hood can be opened.

When can we see the Batmobile on the big screen?

The Batman lands in theaters on March 4. The Batmobile itself is also going on a limited tour, being displayed in a handful of shopping centers across America. Two sequels and spin-off shows have been planned, which probably means even more harrowing car chases.
The 2022 Batmobile has attracted some criticism, mainly for its drab color scheme. However, we believe that it works well alongside the gritty tone of the new movie.

Do superheroes need car insurance?

Just like a Bond car
, the Batmobile comes with an extensive range of technology to help Batman fight crime. It also usually has some military-grade weapons on hand, such as harpoon launchers and machine guns.
Some of these components are bound to require maintenance or become damaged in a crash. In some films and comics, the Batmobile is even destroyed.
Whether your vehicle just needs repairs or is declared a total loss, a good insurance plan can provide compensation! Fortunately, you don't need to be a superhero to sign up with
Jerry
. It's the fastest way to shop for insurance and get enrolled, plus save an average of $985 (or more!) each year.
