Lego has given us plenty of vehicle replicas, like the Toyota Supra
, which actually drives. They've even offered cars from iconic movies that collectors flock to stores to get their hands on. A new set is coming out soon that is a nod to the pop culture
of the ‘80s. It appears that a vehicle from the Back to the Future series of films will be the focus of this new kit. Which one is it, and what will it offer collectors?
Is Lego offering a DeLorean vehicle as one of their sets?
Lego will release a new kit on April 1, 2022, to celebrate the movie trilogy, Back to the Future. This one reportedly will have about 1,872 pieces with the option to build three different versions of the DeLorean, which is actually called the "Time machine" in the kit.
According to MotorTrend
, the DeLorean in its assembled state will measure approximately 15.5-inches long, 7.5-inches wide, and should be just over 4-inches tall. It will come with two minifigures, one of Doc and the other of Marty, with outfits from the second movie. When it comes to features of the DeLorean model, you can expect a few iconic items from the movie. You'll get a Frunk that opens, gullwing doors that also open, and the "Flux Capacitor" from the film.
Two accessories that will also be in the Lego kit are Marty's hoverboard and Doc's plutonium case. If you want to collect all three versions, you will have to purchase three kits to get them. Each set will cost you around $169.99.
What can you build with this Lego set?
The first version you can craft for your collection is the DeLorean with the lightning rod on the back. This comes from a scene in the first movie where the car needed power from lightning towards the film's end.
The Back to the Future Part 2 Lego model is the iconic flying car. This version comes with the "Mr. Fusion" power generator as well as the fold-down wheels that allowed the vehicle to take flight in the film.
The third option you can build comes from the Part 3 movie, with the white-walled tires. This version offers a hood-mounted wooden circuit board.
Other exciting sets Lego has released
It wasn't long ago that Lego released the new Batmobile
with a mid-engine retro muscle car outlook. This version looks pretty close to the ‘60s and ‘70s era Chevy Camaro, or possibly a Dodge Challenger. It comes with wheels that move and a functioning gearbox as well. For just over $300, you can get a Lego model of the Bugatti Chiron
that comes with a whopping 3,599 pieces. Or you can spend around $830 and get the Porsche 911 GT3 RS. For that price, you get 2,704 pieces, steering that works, a functioning suspension, and a transmission that actually shifts. Build an insurance policy that gives you premium coverage
Building Lego sets of iconic cars will provide you with a premium collection to show off in a display case. But when it comes to real cars, you need the best coverage to keep people safe and secure.
