Dreaming of an open-top sports car

If you want to get classy, the Bentley Continental GT Convertible is a luxury staple. With over-the-top style, the 700-hp car sports a W12 engine with a dual-clutch eight-speed transmission that allows for breezy gear changes. The head-turner has a multi-layered rooftop and can accelerate over 200 mph.
With a starting price of $208,100, the Audi R8 Spyder V10 Plus has a top speed of 204 mph. But if you’re a savvy shopper, you can probably find one of these bad boys for about half the price. The athletic sports car features a V10 engine that pumps out a whopping 610 hp with 413lb-ft pound of torque.
Though the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 Convertible won’tbe around forever, it’s still worth mentioning as one of the fastest convertibles providing excellent bang for your buck. For a starting price of $125,000, owners will receive a front-engined 211 mph mid-engined Corvette. We’re waiting on Chevy to announce a convertible ZR1 version of this mean machine.
At 212 mph, the McLaren 720S Spider was first revealed in 2019 at the Geneva Motor Show. The variant took styling cues from its coupe sibling. “It’s about 120 lbs heavier than the coupe but that is no problem for the twin-turbocharged engine-fire her up and she will glow red before sending the car off the line like a greased arrow,”
HotCars
explains.
Though not as light as the coupe, the McLauren is built on a carbon-fiber structure that’s strong enough to handle the retractable hard top.

The fastest convertibles that mean business

The Porsche 918 Spyder is one of the most versatile hybrid sports cars. Weighing over 3,500 pounds, the underrated car features a naturally aspirated V8 engine and a bank of batteries. With over 800 hp, this high-tech speedster can rev up to 9,000 rpm. Drivers can expect top speeds to reach about 215 mph.
Who’s ready for lots of noise and some serious g forces? The Lamborghini Aventador SV Roadster reaches a top speed of 217 mph with a naturally aspirated short-stroke V12 engine.
The brash vehicle sports an all-Italian chassis and a 6.5-liter engine. Though there’s not much cargo room for your luggage, we doubt you’ll care when the wind is blowing in your hair as you wind down the canyon roads.
The menacing Ferrari LaFerrari Aperta is the open-top version of the LaFerrari that was first introduced at the Paris Auto Show in 2018. According to HotCars, “The LaFerrari Aperta brought all the drama and charisma of the coupe into a convertible design, elevating the driving experience by several notches.”
The LaFerrari can ramp up to 180 mph in less than 15 seconds and reach a top speed of 218 mph.

It doesn’t get much faster than this

The Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse can hit a top speed of 254 mph. The powerhouse sports $40,000 tires, 10 radiators, and a 16-cylinder engine. Oh yeah, and 1,200 hp.
Once the fastest convertible in the world, the Bugatti can still reach 230 mph with the top off. The extraordinary auto pushed the brand beyond expectations by creating a supercar that’s safe, comfortable to drive, and incredibly dynamic.
Taking away Buggati’s crown for the world’s fastest convertible, the Hennessey Venom GT Spyder is as sinister as its name suggests. In 2016, the Hennesey debuted on a naval base runway and hit a top speed record of over 260 mph.
The fastest speed it ever recorded is 265.6 mph and it can reach a whopping 200 mph in less than 13 seconds. Don’t try this at home.
Coming out on top is the 278 mph Koenigsegg Agera RS. This hypercar actually achieved 284.6 mph during one of its recorded runs. The Agera RS features a 5.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine with 1176 hp and 940 lb-ft of torque. While the fast variant hit this speed with the top on, it's still one of the most aggressive and outlandish convertibles to date.
