, Ram is offering a handful of new things for their 2022 3500. For the exterior, you get a new paint color called Harvest Sunrise and a newly designed grille for the Lone Star and Big Horn models, which joined the lineup this year.
The interior comes with Black Onyx trim, a digital rearview mirror that comes on in tow mode, along with Ram's Uconnect 5, which is now standard. Power Wagon models offer Bristol leather seats and a full console as available options.
Also added to the Power Wagon models are the electronic transfer case and a new Level 3 equipment package. Other available features include a trailer hitch lighting system and a 360-degree four-camera view used for towing.
MotorTrend critics also liked its ride quality and the responsive engines that come with the 2022 model. This year, you get a 6.4-liter V8 engine or a 6.7-liter inline six-cylinder diesel.
The diesel will either come tuned to 370 horsepower (standard) or 420 horsepower (high-output). Ram's V8 engine will be paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, while the diesel models will come with a six-speed.
Some critics are disappointed with a couple of things on the Ram 3500, mainly with the diesel engine. This model only offers a six-speed automatic transmission, but most critics report that it could do with the eight-speed instead. Also, the engine doesn't perform as well as its rivals’ diesels do, especially those on the Chevy Silverado 3500 and Ford F-350.
