For the 2023 model year, Dodge
didn’t change much about its beloved full-size truck, the Ram
1500. Competition among popular rivals like the Ford F-150 and the Chevy Silverado is fierce, so it makes sense that parent company Stellantis wouldn’t want to mess with a winning formula. Last year, the Ram 1500 earned the title of America’s third best-selling vehicle and even briefly swept into first place. To learn what’s new for the 2023 model year, read on with the car ownership experts at Jerry
. What’s new with the Ram 1500
According to Kelley Blue Book
, the minor changes that were implemented include some new safety alerts, trail cruise control, and a new Limited Elite trim level. Perhaps the biggest news of the tech update is a rear-seat reminder system.
While many parents could never dream of leaving their child
or pet behind in a car, a recent study has shown that vehicular heatstroke fatalities are actually alarmingly common, and could happen to anyone. The new Ram 1500’s rear-seat reminder system senses when a rear door was opened before the truck was started, and reminds the driver to check for passengers in the back when the car is turned off.
A new LED light in the tailgate handle that shines on the hitch was also implemented, so no need to struggle with a flashlight when mounting after dark.
If you’re planning on springing for a higher trim level, all models above the base level now come with an optional 12-inch digital gauge cluster and a central touchscreen that alerts drivers when an emergency vehicle is approaching.
The Ram 1500 Rebel now comes with an off-road cruise control feature called Ram’s Selec-Speed Control.
The Ram 1500 Limited Elite Edition
Last year’s Anniversary Edition
may be going away in name, but most of its same equipment will live on in the Limited Elite edition. Included with the Limited Elite is a multifunction tailgate, retracting bed step, bed extender, and cargo divider. For added interior luxury there's a heated steering wheel, heated-and-ventilated front seats, leather upholstery, and bright aluminum pedals.
Pricing for the Limited Elite edition has been released, but interested buyers will have to wait a bit longer to hear about the rest of the lineup. The Limited Elite starts at $65,305, plus a $1,795 destination fee.
