Will my car insurance cover bad mechanic work?
I had a 2011 Lexus and took it in for a tune-up and a check engine light issue. After a couple months, the light came back on. I went to the dealership and they said that the shop I went to repaired the car wrong, and now the damage is going to cost over $7,000 to fix. Can I file a claim on my insurance?

“That is such a terrible experience! Unfortunately, a mechanic’s error would not be covered under a standard
car insurance
policy. Some insurance companies offer mechanical breakdown coverage, but that is typically for newer vehicles and they wouldn’t cover preexisting damage.
If the repairs were done at a reputable shop, they should have been guaranteed. Still, it is likely that you will need to pursue the repair shop directly for the damages. I would contact the original repair shop and let them know of the situation.”
