Will GEICO pay for a lawyer after an accident where the other driver files a lawsuit?
I got into a car accident with no major injuries. The other driver says I was at fault, while I say they were at fault. Months after the accident, the other driver is filing suit for medical bills and damages. Will my GEICO car insurance pay for a lawyer?

“In most cases,
GEICO
will pay to defend and indemnify you if you’re sued as the result of an accident.However, there are instances where they may not defend you, including the following:
- If you fail to notify GEICO of the accident within five to 10 days
- If the accident damages exceed your policy limits
- If you purposely caused the accident
So if you took the steps to notify the insurance company, got a police report, and don’t exceed your damage limits, you’ll have an attorney appointed by GEICO. If not, you may have to seek legal counsel on your own dime.”
