Why would my insurance company cancel my insurance?

"I live with my mom and her boyfriend, who have their own insurance policy. My insurance company informed me they were cancelling my insurance due to my mom's boyfriend's driving record.

I have a great driving record and he has his own policy, why is this happening?"

Car insurance
carriers have a right to cancel insurance policies if an insured is no longer meeting their requirements. However, there may be a miscommunication with your insurance company.
When you identify household members, you usually have the option to list or exclude them as drivers. If a person is a listed driver, they will be rated on your policy and covered by your insurance. If a person is excluded, they will not be rated and won’t have coverage.
It is possible that your mom and her boyfriend were not excluded from your policy. Your mom’s boyfriend’s driving record could be why your insurance canceled.
You should call your insurance company to confirm why it was cancelled. If you explain they have their own insurance, don’t drive your car, and should be excluded you may be able to get your policy reinstated.”
