Why is the car insurance on my 1988 Lincoln Town Car so high in South Carolina?
I'm a 21-year-old man who lives in South Carolina. I purchased a 1988 Lincoln Town Car as a restoration project. However, when I get quotes for liability that's above the state minimum, it's almost $100 a month. Why is the insurance so high?

“South Carolina is in the middle of the pack when it comes to car insurance prices, with an average price of $1,568 annually. Since you’re getting more than the state-required minimum
liability insurance
, your rate is going to be a bit more than you might expect. But perhaps the biggest reason for the high price is that 11% of South Carolina drivers are uninsured. This increases the risk to the insurance company, which passes the cost on to customers.
While you’re working on the car, you could opt for state-minimum limits, and maybe even if you’re only driving it on Sundays afterward. However, a 100/300/100 policy is probably your best bet, and it may not cost significantly more than the 25/50/25 minimum.
