Why is my Ford F-150 5.0 making a ticking noise?

Is the ticking noise coming from my Ford F-150 5.0 normal? I’ve never heard it before, but my truck starts ticking every time I turn it on now.

A
Ford F-150
5.0 could be making a ticking noise due to:
  • Low oil level
  • Problems with your ignition (particularly if the ticking starts when you start your car)
  • An exhaust leak
Some of these issues are more serious than others, but it’s a good idea to get your truck checked out regardless. If the problem goes unchecked, it could worsen over time and cause permanent damage to your engine—particularly if your oil is contaminated.
