Why is my 2003 Ford Explorer dome light staying on?

Even with all the doors securely closed, my 2003 Ford Explorer’s dome light stays on. I can turn off the interior lights with the dimmer switch, but usually, the dome light turns off automatically as soon as all the doors are closed. Any idea what’s causing it to stay on?

I’m sorry that’s happening, it sounds very frustrating! Your 2003 Ford Explorer dome light may be staying on because of faulty doors.
Before you head to the mechanic, check to make sure none of the switches in your door latch have gotten bumped. If they are all in place, try spraying some WD40 in your door latches and opening and closing the doors a few times.
If one of the switches has been bumped, you’ll need to remove the door panel to access it—and possibly get the switch replaced. If that’s not the case and the latch is just stuck, WD40 should do the trick! It can be hard to know which door is causing the problems, so it’s worth spraying each one until you see results.
To help protect against unexpected mechanical bills, it’s worth finding a cheaper
