Why is gas so expensive in Minnesota?

I’m in Minnesota for school, and luckily I have a small car that doesn’t cost a ton to fill up. But even with a small engine, I still feel like gas prices are insane—why are they so high?

You’re right—gas prices have risen to an unbelievable amount! Gas is so expensive in
Minnesota
because of:
  • Fuel supply issues
  • Summer travel season
  • Increasing fuel demands
  • High crude oil prices
Compared to many other states, Minnesota’s average gas prices are slightly lower, with the average cost for regular unleaded gas sitting at $4.701 per gallon and diesel at $5.561. Compare that to the whopping $6.308 per gallon in
California
!
But given that prices were just $2.938 per gallon a year ago, it’s significantly higher.
