Why does my Subaru make a ticking noise when idle?
Even though my Subaru is pretty new, I’ve noticed a ticking sound when it’s idling. Is that normal, or should I get a mechanic to look into it?

A new ticking sound in your car is usually not a good sign. Your Subaru could be making a ticking noise when it’s idle for a few reasons:
- Low oil level or oil pressure
- Ignition system issue
- Exhaust leak
- Worn lifters in your engine
However, it’s worth noting that older Subaru engines are a bit noisy, and ticking sounds may be a normal part of your engine’s process. But if the ticking sounds are new or have gotten louder or more frequent, it’s definitely worth getting checked out and doing some car maintenance in case there’s a deeper issue.
