Whose insurance will cover sprinkler damage after an apartment fire?
"My upstairs neighbor's sprinkler caused some damage to the ceiling of my apartment during a fire. Whose insurance will cover the damage? My neighbor's? My own? My landlord's?

“If someone else’s sprinkler system causes damage to your apartment during a fire, the liability falls under the person who caused the fire. For example, if your upstairs neighbor left a candle lit that caused the fire, they would be responsible for the damages.
On the other hand, if the fire was caused by faulty wiring in the apartment complex, your landlord would likely be liable for the damages since they own the building and are responsible for keeping it safe.”
