Who made the first electric sports car?

Now that we’ve gone straight past the land of electric sports cars and into supercar world (I can’t stop googling videos of the Rimac Nevera), I’m wondering about the history of the genre. Who made the first electric sports car?

We can’t stop looking at the Nevera either. Its ancestor, the first electric sports car, is the
Tesla Roadster
.
First released in 2008, it was the first electric car to incorporate lithium-ion battery cells. It was also the first to sport a range of 200+ miles on a single charge, and it was crazy fast. The Tesla Roadster set the bar for electric sports cars and supercars alike—Nevera, take note.
