Who is responsible for plumbing repairs in a rental?
There is a small and constant drip under my bathroom sink. I have a bucket under there, so it isn’t causing any damage, but the sound is driving me crazy. Who is responsible for plumbing repairs in a rental?
Reviewed by Shannon Martin, Licensed Insurance Agent.
The landlord is responsible for plumbing repairs in a rental. Contact them immediately so they can get a plumber to fix the pipe before it becomes a more damaging and expensive situation.
If your landlord gives you any pushback, check your lease agreement. Some leases require a tenant to hire someone to fix the repairs, and then you can deduct the maintenance cost from your next rent payment. Everything will be stated in your lease.
