Which of the following is true about drinking and driving—can I or can’t I drive with a BAC of .08?

I’m planning on going out to the bars with my friends this weekend to celebrate my new job! We are trying to coordinate a designated driver. I know drinking and driving is dangerous but can I drive with a BAC of .08?

Congrats on your new job, and props to you for planning for a safe night out! In the United States, it becomes illegal to drive a vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of .08 or higher.
It is highly recommended that you do not drive at all if you intend to drink alcohol. Safe alternatives include having a designated driver or using a rideshare app like Uber or Lyft.
