Where is the brake located in a car?

Your brake is the pedal located to the left of the accelerator. Generally, the brake will be a wider, square shape. When you need to apply the brake, gently press down on this pedal using your right foot to slow the car down.
If you’re trying to find the parking brake, this will vary depending on your car’s make and model! Some vehicles have a small square pedal to the far left of the driver’s foot area—press this down to apply and release the parking brake. Other models may have a handle to the right of the driver’s seat and next to the center console—push in on the button and pull upwards to apply to brake. Some vehicles, on the other hand, have a lever located directly behind the steering wheel that you shift up or down.
