Where is the 2013 Mini Cooper OBD port location?

I love my Mini Coop, but the check engine light came on, and I’m worried it will need some serious repairs. My brother offered to let me borrow his scanner tool, but I’m fuzzy on how to use it. Could you tell me where the OBD port is located on the 2013 Mini Cooper?

Don’t be scared—be informed! Using the OBD scanner can give you valuable information about your car. For the 2013
Mini Cooper
, the OBD port is located above the pedals to the left. You’ll see a flexible plastic cover over the port, but all you have to do is pull it off to reveal the plug.
If you’re having difficulty finding the OBD port, open the driver’s side door and squat down. It might even help to have a flashlight if the lighting is poor.
When you’re ready to use the scanner tool, turn off your Mini Cooper and follow these simple steps:
  • Plug the scanner into your Mini Cooper’s OBD port.
  • Switch the power to your car on, but don’t start the engine.
  • Enter the vehicle-specific info (like the VIN) if the scanner asks for it.
  • Press “scan” on the tool to start the process, which only takes a few seconds.
  • Record the scan codes that appear.
You can look up the codes in the scanner manual or online. If a particular code stumps you,
take your car to a repair shop or mobile mechanic
and tell them what code is being displayed on the scanner. They can pinpoint the problem and come up with a repair plan.
