Where is the 2003 Ford F-150 fuel pump relay location?
I’ve got an old F-150 pickup that’s starting to sound weird when I start it up. I’m thinking it’s a fuel pump relay issue so I was gonna check and maybe replace it. Where is the 2003 Ford F-150’s fuel pump relay location?

Strange sounds when starting up are never a good sign. Your 2003 Ford F-150 fuel pump relay will usually be located in slot 301 inside the power distribution box, which is situated in the engine compartment.
Here are some steps you should take to inspect and/or replace it:
- For safety’s sake, disconnect the negative battery cable (with a wrench).
- Locate the power distribution box and open it up .
- Remove the fuel relay by firmly pulling it up from location 301 (refer to your owner’s manual if you get lost finding it).
- Inspect the relay for any damages (you can also test it by holding it against a 9-volt battery and listening for clicking).
- If the relay is damaged, plug in a new fuel pump relay.
- Close the power distribution box and reconnect the negative battery cable (with a wrench).
If you happen to have a code reader on hand, diagnostic trouble code P0230 indicates low voltage in the fuel pump relay. Should you discover that your fuel pump relay is actually doing just fine, be sure to take your truck to a trustworthy mechanic to get a more thorough inspection—engine trouble is not to be trifled with!
