Toyota Camry
OBD port is located on the driver’s side behind the lower dash panel coin box. And considering your sedan’s model year, you most likely have an OBD-II port as all vehicles made after 1996 have this particular port.What’s the purpose of an OBD port, anyway? The OBD or On-Board Diagnostics port is an onboard computer that monitors various vehicle information like speed, emissions, and mileage, along with other vehicle data. It’s also connected to your dashboard warning lights that illuminate anytime your OBD system detects a problem.
Now that you know where to OBD port is located, you’ll need to use an OBD-II scanner to find out if there are any potential issues with your new-to-you Toyota Camry. All you have to do is insert the scanner into the 16-pin connector to pull up your
car’s OBD codes
. If you’re having trouble deciphering what these OBD codes mean, you may want to take your 1996 Toyota Camry to a mechanic to properly diagnose any unlying problems your sedan may have to make repairs as soon as possible.
