Where is Audi made in Germany?

I’ve heard that Audi moved lots of its operations to foreign countries, but I’m not sure if that’s true or pure internet conjecture. Does Audi still make cars in Germany, and if so, where are the factories?

It’s always a good idea to double-check the info you find online! Although Audi has expanded its operations to Mexico and Hungary to lower overhead costs, hire cheaper labor, and improve logistics, the brand has two major manufacturing plants located in Germany—Audi vehicles are made in Ingolstadt and Neckarsulm, Germany.
These two facilities create the parts that are later assembled around the globe, as well as build specific models. Here’s a quick breakdown of which vehicle parts are manufactured where:
  • Ingolstadt produces the Q2, A3, A4, and A5—including all the steps from inception to finished product.
  • Neckarsulm makes the A6, A7, and A8 models.
Now that you know where Audis come from, you may be a bit more interested in purchasing one for yourself. If that’s the case, start shopping today—not only for your car but also for Audi insurance!
