Where does Ford get their EV batteries?

I’ve read that Ford is building a new facility to start producing its own EV batteries. However, I wasn’t sure if they’re currently producing them in-house. Where do Ford EV batteries come from?

Ford currently gets its electric vehicle (EV) batteries from two companies: SK Innovation and Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Ltd. (CATL). However, Ford recently signed an exclusive agreement with SK Innovation to build an EV factory and battery production plant in Stanton, Tennessee.
Scheduled to open in 2025, this $5.6 billion facility will take variable costs of batteries out of the equation, allowing Ford to keep its prices low on its next generation of EVs. The factory expects to produce around 6,000 jobs, bringing a much-needed economic boost to this rural area of western Tennessee.
If you decide that an EV like the
Ford Mustang Mach-E
or an
F-150 Lightning
suits your needs and tastes, there’s no better time than now to shop around. Both of these are on back order, so the sooner you shop, the sooner you can get your vehicle.
