Where did the name Toyota come from?
I’m something of a history buff especially when it comes to cars. I’m on a Toyota kick right now and curious where they got their company name. How did they come up with the name Toyota?

Car history is really fascinating! The name ”Toyota” is derived from the family name of Sakichi Toyoda, its founder.
The company was originally called Toyoda and sold with a Toyoda emblem. In 1936, the automaker ran a competition for a new logo and this resulted in changing its name to Toyota.
Toyoda is a pretty common last name in Japan. It means affluent or abundant rice fields.
