Where did Mazda get its name?

I’m absolutely in love with my Mazda 3. I realized the other day that I don’t know any backstory on the Mazda name! Where did it come from?

Mazda got its name from an ancient god. The name “Mazda” comes from an ancient god of West Asia, Ahura Mazda.
According to Mazda, the original founders felt that Ahura Mazda symbolized the beginning of automotive civilization and culture. Plus, Ahura Mazda means “god of wisdom,” so it has a nice meaning on its own! And for bonus points, the name “Mazda” sounded similar to the family name of one of Mazda’s primary founders.
