Where did Ford get the idea for the assembly line?
I’m a huge history buff. I always like to learn more about topics that interest me—at least from a historical perspective. I heard that Henry Ford was famous for using the assembly line, but I don’t know how he came up with it. Where did Henry Ford get the idea for the assembly line?

Strangely, Ford did not have the idea for the assembly line. It was already being used, albeit in different industries.
According to historians, Ford was inspired by touring slaughterhouses and grain factories in the Midwest. Both used conveyor belts to complete production, and the idea just made sense for making vehicles.
Ford implemented his idea at the Ford Highland Park Assembly Plant just outside of Detroit in 1913. The rest—as they say—is history.
