Where can I find the OBD port on my BMW 320i?

My BMW’s check engine light has been turning on lately, and I want to run a quick diagnostic scan myself before I take it into the shop. I have an OBD scanning tool, but can you tell me where the OBD port on a BMW 320i is?

Ah, the dreaded and enigmatic Check Engine Light is never a welcome sight! But no worries—we’ve got your back! The OBD port on a
BMW 320i
is found on the driver’s side of the dashboard, either on the far left or just above the pedals.
It’s a savvy move to read the
OBD codes
yourself before you take your Bimmer in to see a mechanic. There are a lot of different things that can cause the
Check Engine
Light to turn on, and some of them are pretty easy to resolve at home! You’d be surprised how often a loose or faulty
gas cap
is the source of a Check Engine Light.
That being said, the problem could also be a little more complex, like a faulty
oxygen sensor
or an issue with your catalytic converter. If it is something more serious, then you’ll at least be able to have an idea of what you’re getting into before you take your 320i into the
car repair
shop. Good luck!
