While Tesla is ramping up efforts to produce batteries on its own, Tesla batteries are made in China, Nevada, and Kansas.
Tesla relies heavily on Panasonic for its batteries—a Japanese firm with factories in the U.S. While Panasonic originally produced a majority of its batteries outside Reno, Nevada, the company also plans to start operations in Topeka, Kansas. These are the two primary sources of batteries for current Tesla vehicles.
In Asian markets, Tesla has its batteries made by a third-party company called Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. This company produces batteries solely for Tesla vehicles produced and sold in the Far East.
