Where are Hyundais made in the USA?
I’ve read that several foreign automakers actually make more of their vehicles in America than even some American car makers. I wasn’t sure if Hyundai was one of these companies. Where does Hyundai make cars in the United States?

Hyundai has one of its 12 major assembly plants in Montgomery, Alabama. Known as Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama, or HMMA for short, the factory builds and assembles five different types of Hyundai vehicles, including:
- Hyundai Santa Cruz
- Hyundai Santa Fe
- Hyundai Tucson
- Hyundai Sonata
- Hyundai Elantra
According to the American-Made Index, three of these vehicles crack the top 50 of the most American-made vehicles, including the Hyundai Santa Fe (#39), Hyundai Santa Cruz (#43), and Hyundai Tucson (#48).
While these figures pale in comparison to Honda and Acura, it’s still a respectable showing for a company that was almost nonexistent in the U.S. just 20 years ago.
