Right now, while electric cars can accelerate faster than gas-powered cars, they have slower top speeds. Gasoline cars just have a performance advantage compared to electric cars, but engineers in the EV industry are working to make it so that electric cars can sustain top speeds just as well as gas-powered cars.
This wouldn’t only give them an advantage on the racetrack, but it would also make them more efficient as well. EV batteries tend to drain much faster when being driven at highway speeds for long periods of time, but an advanced transmission design would allow them to perform just as well at fast speeds as they do at slower speeds.
